Hey there! I’m Tish 👋, and if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to dive headfirst into the world of AI, buckle up because you’re in for a fun ride. I’ve been using ChatGPT since early 2023, but over the last 30 days, I decided to make it my daily companion. This post is all about my personal journey with ChatGPT—what I’ve learned, the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
Embracing AI: Getting Started with ChatGPT

So, let’s talk expectations. When I first started using ChatGPT, I was excited but also a bit skeptical. Could an AI really fit into my day-to-day workflow? Spoiler alert: It did, but not without a few bumps along the way. The first few days were like learning to ride a bike—awkward, wobbly, but eventually, I found my balance.
At first, figuring out how to craft the right prompts felt like decoding a secret language. But as I got the hang of it, ChatGPT quickly became less of a chatbot and more of a sidekick, helping me tackle my tasks with a new level of efficiency.
Maximizing Productivity

Now, let’s talk productivity—because who doesn’t love getting things done faster, right? ChatGPT turned out to be a huge help in streamlining my daily tasks. Whether it was drafting emails, organizing my to-do list, or coming up with content ideas, ChatGPT was like that super-organized friend who has everything under control.
One of the most impressive moments was when I used ChatGPT to help create content for a friend’s five-page website. Normally, waiting for clients to deliver content for website projects can feel like watching paint dry and often will delay website launches, but with ChatGPT, I was able to draft SEO-friendly copy that sped up the entire process. We went from concept to launch in record time, and the content was so good, my friend barely had to make any changes.
And let’s not forget the creativity boost! Whenever I felt stuck, I’d throw some ideas at ChatGPT, and it would respond with a ton of inspiration. Titles, outlines, you name it—ChatGPT had my back, making my brainstorming sessions not just productive, but actually fun.
Enhancing Communication Skills

Beyond just getting things done, ChatGPT also helped me up my communication game. If I needed a first draft for a blog post? ChatGPT was there to help me flesh out ideas and tighten up my writing. One of the coolest aspects was training ChatGPT to understand my writing style. It was like teaching someone to speak my language—over time, it got better and better at suggesting phrases that felt like me.
ChatGPT didn’t just help with writing—it also helped me think more critically about how I communicate. As customer service professional, I have written over tens of thousands of emails and can do so very quickly. I’m also picky about the tone I want to maintain throughout my email: friendly, clear, and actionable. I wasn’t sure if ChatGPT could help me, as I’m already a writing expert lol. Still, I tried some experiments, more on that below.
I have to say, whether I’m responding to a tricky email or crafting a social media post, now having ChatGPT in my back pocket as a sounding board has made me more effective in my writing.
Overcoming Challenges and Limitations
Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. There were times when ChatGPT’s responses felt a little too generic or even missed the mark entirely. I quickly learned that while AI is powerful, it’s not perfect, and it’s important to double-check its work. It’s like having a really smart intern—you still need to give it a once-over before hitting “send.”
To tackle this, I developed a habit of cross-referencing information and tweaking prompts until I got the results I wanted. It look some testing, but I found that sweet spot where AI could shine, but my human touch still played a critical role.
For example, on one of my first experiments, I would write an email but then also have ChatGPT write an email, then compare the two. I didn’t get the best results from ChatGPT on that. So for my next experiment I started feeding ChatGPT my written emails and training it on my writing style, and asking it how it could improve my writing. That, produced way better results and I found I actually started using it’s suggestions. Now, I know which prompts to use to have ChatGPT write my first drafts (which are actually in my writing style) and then I customize it further from there to get to my final draft.
Lessons Learned and Key Takeaways

After 30 days, here’s the big takeaway: ChatGPT is a game-changer, but it works best as a collaborative tool. It’s like having an extra set of hands (or brains) that can boost productivity, creativity, and communication, but you’ve got to know when to take the wheel yourself. The key is to embrace AI for what it is—a tool that enhances, not replaces, the human touch.
I also learned that continuous learning and adapting are essential. The more you work with ChatGPT, the more you understand how to get the best out of it. And the more you adapt, feed it information that you’d like included, the more valuable it becomes as a partner in your workflow.
Conclusion

So there you have it, I spent 30 days with ChatGPT and I’m not looking back. From boosting productivity to sharpening my communication skills, I feel like AI has become an integral part of how I work. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to give AI tools like ChatGPT a try. It might just surprise you how much it can transform your day.
I was so impressed I even invested in taking a Generative AI course. To see how I could further improve my work flows and productivity.
